Can you share a bit about your business and what you do?
I have loved crafting for as long as I can remember. As a little girl, I would have my grandpa bring me a zip lock bag when he picked me up from preschool so I could snag some crafting supplies to take back home.
I design and create handmade cards and other paper goods. In late 2018, I decided to open an Etsy shop where I sell premade cards, but I also get requests for custom orders.
When and why did you decide to start your new business?
I’d been meaning to do something with my craft for a while but was waiting for the “perfect/right” time. In late 2018, I wasn’t in the best headspace; I felt like I was waking up on the wrong side of the bed every day, so I decided to distract myself. I kept pushing off opening an Etsy shop, so it seemed like the perfect time to focus my attention on that. In November 2018, I opened my Etsy shop and can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner.
What do you love most about running your own business?
Running your own business can feel overwhelming at times, but I love that it’s mine. The only person I report to is myself; I create a schedule that works for me and find joy in following my passion.
What are your overall goals for your business?
My goal is to be able to create full-time. I want to grow my skill, expand my product, and spread a little love and positivity with every piece I make.
What services do you provide for anyone who may want to reach out to you/work with you?
I’m really creative. I started off with handmade cards because I love the gift of cards; they’re also easy and affordable to ship. I get noncard-related requests here and there for things like a personalized shadowbox, custom banners, and personalized signs, so I am open to custom projects.
