Can you share a bit about your business and what you do?
I started in 2010 when I had my daughter, Marley. I was no longer employed at the time and took to baking while she was napping. I began posting cupcakes and custom work on Facebook, and friends and family started ordering.
Within months, I was in a commercial kitchen and took on a Living Social & Groupon deal, which was too crazy to handle, lol. As the years went by, I kept to it, but nothing super crazy. In 2016, we opened a location in Oakland, but in 2017, we transitioned to the dessert truck. In 2018, we found another location and started the long process of the build-out. We finally opened our downtown Hayward location on Feb. 1, 2020.
And here we are, about to celebrate our one-year anniversary, during Covid. Throughout the years, we’ve been creating Filipino Fusion desserts, specifically Ube (purple yam).
What do you love most about running your own business?
The freedom to create what I want and meeting customers and other business owners.

What’s your #1 recommendation for someone who has yet to try out Marley’s Treats?
To try our Ube Sampler. It has 2 of our Ube Flandesals, cupcakes & mini flan ube cheesecakes—a little bit of everything.
Do you have a business goal you can’t wait to hit either this year or in the future?
Yes! To start shipping nationwide and share our treats with the whole US.
