Meet the Baker: Kevin of Dad Bod Desserts

Can you share a bit about your business and what you do?

I make desserts. From cookies to cheesecakes and anything fancy I can attempt to make. If you know me, you know I pretty much love anything Ube flavored, and if you’ve just met me, it won’t take long until you see my passion for Ube flavored desserts. The other flavors I highlight are cookie butter and Nutella. Those are pretty high on my list of favorite dessert flavors.

When and why did you decide to start your new business? 

I started it in January 2021. However, I always sold the extra desserts I would make whenever I made any. When I was on paternity leave for my second kid, I sold desserts since I was at home the whole time. I started my own brand because I was encouraged by my family to do so. To my surprise, people actually bought it, lol.

What do you love most about running your own business?

The thing I love most is that it’s a hobby. Plus, I can bring happiness to others through what I’m interested in and passionate about. I always make sure it tastes exactly how I would want to buy it with every dessert I make. Also, to be honest, making desserts in my free time and being able to sell them for extra money is a pretty big plus to it, lol.

What are your overall goals for your business?

My overall goal is to keep bringing new desserts to everyone while doing it on my own time. When I took orders and had a timeline to meet, I realized it took all the fun out of making the desserts.

For funsies, what’s your favorite product/image/gift/event / etc. you’ve created so far? 

I made 400 cookies for my daughter’s baptism. That pretty much was the catalyst to my whole dessert-making career. But recently, making artisan cheesecakes has been my jam.
